Mar-Lee Environmental Initiatives
Mar-Lee has established relationships with producers of cutting-edge bio-resins and environmentally friendly plastics and we are currently testing these resins for use in many consumer and medical applications. As an industry expert in the production of Polylactic Acid products (PLA is a bio-degradable resin derived from renewable sources), we are continually looking to expand our use of bio-resins. We are actively collaborating with the producers of such resins to improve the usability of these materials – our goal is to enable our customers to use bio-resins in an increasing number of applications as soon as technologically possible.

Here are just a few of the various steps that Mar-lee is currently taking to improve the environment:

• Active design of lighter parts with thinner walls
• Continual reduction of scrap rates
• Recycling of corrugated, plastic, oil, and metal
• Use of recycled papers and soy-based inks for company literature
• Use of recycled boxes for packaging and shipping
• Manufacturing of PLA (Polylactic Acid) products
• Replacement of corrugated boxes with reusable plastic totes
• Use of electronic mailings rather than hard-copy mailings
• Use of fewer and thinner polybags
